The Barbershop
Overdrive

Here you'll find more information regarding the setup used in recording the sound samples. All samples were recorded as transparently as possible, no EQ, no processing, etc.

Finger picking with lots of dynamics accentuate the sensitivity of the pedal.

Jazzmaster copy, Traynor tube rectified YBA-1a, homebrew 2x12 cabinet with Celestion Seventy 80s. The amp was clean as you can hear in the 1st (bypassed) sequenced. The other 2 have the Drive set at about 3/4. In the second sequence, the Sag is fully off while in the last, it was turned down to 1/2. Volume was adjusted for unity gain (ie no boost).

Something smells like blues.

Custom Telecaster, silver faced Fender Deluxe. When bypassed, it was loud and clean but the amp was slightly starting to break up. Nobody remembers what the settings on the pedal were, probably around 3/4 on both Drive and Sag. The pedal was barely boosting the signal, what you hear is mostly the pedal but as always, a combination of everything involved.

This rock riff really needed something to lift it up.

Played through a Traynor tube rectified YBA-1a, original YT-15 cabinet. Can't remember the guitar. In this sample both the pedal and the fact that the amp was getting slammed contributed to the tone. Of which proportion is irrelevant when you consider that it sounds damn good.

Bass guitar plugged straight into a soundcard. Notice the intermodulation.

Jazz Bass copy with flatwound strings. Who knows what the settings were. Highlights the fact that the frequency response of the Barbershop is low enough to use on bass and keyboards without losing bottom end.
